CBR supports genetics of epilepsy study

CBR is providing administrative support and governance guidance for a study of the phenotype and genetics of myoclonic astatic epilepsy (MAE).

The study is being conducted by Dr Shan Tang of the Institute of Psychiatry, King’s College London. MAE is a rare childhood epilepsy with variable neurodevelopmental outcome.

The study will seek genetic factors underlying the disease; these may lead to more accurate diagnostic testing and genetic counselling for patients as well as new avenues for research leading to patient benefit.
